The US has banned Huawei, the world leader in telecom equipment and the number two smartphone producer, over concerns of security, and Washington has been putting pressure on other countries to restrict the operations of the Chinese telecom firm.

The Trump administration has been asking all its allies and friends, including India, to block the entry of Huawei from using their 5G infrastructure, which is a next generation cellular technology with download speeds stated to be 10 to 100 times faster than the current 4G LTE networks.

Vodafone Idea hits new low as CRISIL downgrades its NCDs rating

Shares of Vodafone Idea hit a new record low of Rs 5.13, down 9 per cent on the BSE on Wednesday after CRISIL downgraded its rating on non-convertible debentures (NCDs) of Rs 3,500 crore to ‘CRISIL A/Negative’ from ‘CRISIL A+/Negative’.

The ratings agency noted that the rating revision is on account of deterioration in the company’s business and financial risk profile over the medium-term due to lower profitability than expected, although significant synergy benefits were accrued ahead of the earlier plan.

Despite the company’s deleveraging plans, net debt may continue to exceed Rs 1 trillion by the end of March 31, 2020, CRISIL said in rating rationale.

Vodafone Idea plans to monetise its 11.15 per cent stake in Indus Towers, post completion of the Bharti Infratel and Indus Towers merger. The proceeds from this transaction is estimated at about Rs 5,630 crore as on June 30, 2019. Besides, the company is also looking to sell its fibre assets.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday asserted that Jammu and Kashmir was an inseparable part of India and both Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Aksai Chin were very much a part of the whole entity. Answering clarifications sought by Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Choudhary in the Lok Sabha, Shah said that BJP leaders will give up their lives to secure PoK and added that whenever he mentions Jammu and Kashmir, it includes the areas held by Pakistan and China.

“Whenever I talk about Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Aksai Chin comes under it and can die for it,” Shah snapped back at Leader of Congress party Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary.

Shah, who presented in the Lok Sabha the resolution scrapping the provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution and legislation for reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir, said Parliament was well within its rights to take up the matter. Fitness bands to smartwatches: Wearables you need to step up your workout

Amazfit Bip Lite (Rs 3,999)

This Amazfit Bip Lite is an Apple Watch doppelgänger. The similarities, however, begin and end at looks. In terms of display, features and user interface, the watch has nothing on the masterpiece from Apple. But the Amazfit has an incomparable 45-day battery life.

Who it’s for: If you are reluctant to move more than absolutely necessary, have spare real estate on your wrist most days and would prefer a smartwatch that is lightweight and comfortable, start here. The Bip Lite has a 1.28-inch rectangular dial and an animated touchscreen display with a negligible brightness that stays on 24/7. The watch weighs a meagre 32 gm.

What it does: In addition to time, calendar, alarm and reminders, the watch can count your steps and constantly monitor your heart rate. This also helps the watch estimate the calories you burn in a day or during a particular workout — it has five workout modes (cycling, weight training etc) that you have to manually select before starting your exercise. Just don’t go swimming with it; 30 metre water-resistance is barely enough for a shower.
